The series, which goes by the name Naija Vamp, was created by Nigerian-American actress Yetide Badaki and award-winning Hollywood filmmaker Prentice Penny's Payback Entertainment.

Naija Vamp's plot, according to Deadline, centers on a Nigerian vampire's desire for eternal love beyond flesh and blood.

The show was called "an irreverent love letter to all who have ever felt othered, wrapped in a blood-sucking coming-of-age self-discovery romp" by Deadline.

Naija Vamp is led by a Nigerian. Yetide Badaki, a 41-year-old Hollywood actress, writer, and producer, is at its center.

Yetide, who was born in Ibadan, has established a name for herself over the course of her career in Hollywood and is at the forefront of bringing Nigerian content to the global market.

Yetide would produce the comic book series alongside Penny Prentice, Sebastian Jones, Chris Pollack, and Alex Soler. Having recently collaborated with Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Steven S. DeKnight, and Mo Abudu to develop a series for Starz about the life of Queen Warrior Queen Nzinga, Yetide would produce the series.

One of Payback Entertainment's founders, Prentice Penny, best known for his work in Insecure, stated that "Yetide has created something extraordinary in Naija Vamp;" Naija Vamp hopes to take a new approach to how supernatural stories relate to events and storytelling.
