Film's title: When Palava will be out: Date: 9 December 2022 Time: 1 hour and 30 minutes Producer: Akinmolayan, nyi.
Cast: Bisola Aiyeola, Beverly Naya, Beverly Osu, Jemima Osunde, Richard Mofe Damijo, Iyabo Ojo, Neo Akpofure, Omawunmi, and Linda Ejiofor Suleiman It is undeniable that Nollywood brought their A-game this year, providing us with two hits simultaneously. However, there are a few misses in between those hits, such as "Palava."
The producers of Palava failed to deliver on their promise to deliver a high-quality family drama, as evidenced by the film's script, performances, and even musical performance.
In all honesty, watching Palava was like watching Chief Daddy 2 again, but this time, the patriarch wasn't dead, there wasn't a needless trip to Dubai, and a different studio made it.
The life of musician Osa Wonder (Richard Mofe Damijo) and his family are the focus of the plot of Palava. We are told by a narrator that Osa Wonder was a well-known musician in the past who lost some of his fame when someone blocked him. Fortunately, the rise of Tik Tok made him famous and brought his old songs into the spotlight.
Five daughters from his various marriages are now actively involved in his music career. Osa Wonder, his manager, can thrive with his daughter, Imade (Bisola Aiyeola), until a secret is revealed.
Jemima Osunde's Itohan, the youngest daughter, has been plotting a kidnapping with her boyfriend Malik (Neo Akpofure). She hopes that by doing so, they will be able to pay off their debts and recover the ransom. Sadly, Big T (Chinedu Ikedieze), a mafia boss, complicates what started out as a straightforward kidnapping plan.
When the musician is accused of sleeping with his ex-wife, who was dating a former friend, the crowd at Osa Wonder's 60th birthday party explodes. Even worse, Big T shows up at the party and tries to kidnap a significant guest. The person in charge of the costume and makeup did an excellent job. The costumes of the characters were not chosen at random; The identities of the characters were made clear to viewers with each item. Additionally, the cinematography was excellent. The scenes really came to life because the director knew not to overdo the shots. It's impossible not to want to swoon over the movie's locations. Is it Osa Wonder's house or the location where Ehi hosted her listening party? The saying, "Go big or go home," was taken to heart by the set designer and location scout.

After Oma (Iyabo Ojo), Imade's former secretary, made the public declaration that Osa Wonder is the father of her child, the family is perplexed. The women must lie and claim that Oma is their father's girlfriend and that the video was a joke to hide the truth.
Although the acting was not particularly impressive, actors like Bisola Aiyeola, Iyabo Ojo, and Beverley Naya did their best to accurately portray their characters.
The negative Let's begin with the plot. The polygamous family drama plot has been explored numerous times in Nollywood. Therefore, even if Palava decided to follow the same path, there might have been a novel twist added to it.
One possibility is that one of the daughters is an international spy who offends a gang leader, or that Iyabo Ojo's character intended to exact revenge and the family gangs up on her.
The script seemed stale. I didn't find this inciting incident to be compelling, the stakes weren't high enough, or even the villain made me worry about the family.
We won't even begin to discuss the numerous instances in which the producers violated the "show, don't tell" rule.
Osawonder's performances as a musician are yet another source of irritation. RMD may not be a professional singer, but he could have tried.
When RMD "sung," the camera would pan to another character until he finished, and even when the camera focused on him, his lips barely moved in time with the music. This is noticeable in scenes where RMD "sung."
The actors could have done more with their characters, to conclude. It was disappointing to see talented actors fail to deliver their lines in a compelling manner.
However, due to the dialogue's blandness, excessive westernization, and dire need for rewriting, one cannot entirely blame them.
Final rating of 5/10. Observe it. Although Palava does not have a compelling plot, it does feature a number of well-known and talented actors in a variety of roles.
Cinemas are still showing Palava.
